Hi! I’m Mary a Vegan Pastry Chef and mother to an 8-year-old vegetarian boy. I created this website to share with you what I have learned during my journey to becoming vegan. I was not always Vegan, growing up in the Midwest, it never occurred to me that you could live off eating plants. I worked as a traditional pastry chef in Los Angeles until 2014 when a life changing trip to India opened my eyes to the horrors of the food industry and caused me to become vegetarian.
If you are worried about how to transition to a plant-based vegan diet please do not, anyone can do it and easier then you may think. When I made this decision, I had no idea how to be vegan to cook food without meat or eggs was completely foreign to me, I was heartbroken not being able to eat my favorite desserts anymore and serve them to my son. What I did not realize was that it is completely possible to eat a vegan diet and not miss out on anything great in the food world. I started with my favorites like the traditional chocolate chip cookie and learned how to make it vegan. Once this was done to my satisfaction, I realized you really do not need eggs or milk in most desserts, one by one I went on converting things to make them vegan, searching and testing endless recipes to find the ones that work and do not taste dry.
Through this website I am happy to share recipes, articles and products that can make the transition to becoming vegan easier or take your vegan baking to the next level. It is my hope that through this site you will see that becoming Vegan and plant-based is not impossible and does not mean having to sacrifice any of your favorites, in fact, I think some of these recipes exceed the standard of regular baking and cooking because they use all natural ingredients that are organic and preservative free, and, as every chef knows, good ingredients make good food.
